VINTAGE NORTH

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 5  2016

Fine weather greeted nearly 50 riders at Vintage North, the opening round of the Vinduro NZ Series on Saturday November 5th.  Held at The Farm near Whangaruru the mix of grassland, farm and bush tracks laid out by enthusisasts Mike Bennett, Peter Groves and Mike Johnason made for an ideal early summer enduro.
Six classes were catered in both Gold and Silver divisions, the Gold riders having some extra challenging sections added. There were a good spread of entries through the early 70s Classic and late 70s to mid eighties Evo divisions, though only a smattering in the new pre 1996 dual disc braked ‘Modern’ class.
The course comprised two laps of a 30km course with each lap broken into two sections. Two special tests were ridden on each lap, making four tests for the event. The first test was a twisting roller coaster blast over a clay track called the Bush Highway, while the second was a tighter grasstrack spiraling affair called the Esgargot. Computerised scorng was ably handled by Silver Bullet Events.
